4 Years in Canada: What Nobody Tells You
Published · 1:01:49
After 4 years in Canada, we decided to be honest about the reality of living in Canada as a temporary resident (PGWP / open work permit) — without romanticizing it and without scaring you. In this podcast-style episode, we answer real questions you sent us about adapting to Canada, culture shock, loneliness, winter, work, housing, and renting in Canada, plus our experience with the healthcare system in Canada.
We also talk with complete transparency about our status today: we still don't have PR (permanent residency), and we explain why many people think that "time in Canada = automatic PR," when the reality is quite different.
And the most important point: our biggest regret over these 4 years was the language — especially French in Québec. We neglected it for far too long, and that affects everything: opportunities, independence, paperwork, and even social life.
